OUR VISION
We are change makers looking forward to seeing communities where children are supported to realise their full potential. Where families are supported to rise above poverty.
A registered non-governmental organisation operating in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The charity was founded in 2017 to work with families in deprived communities on issues around Education, Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship for women.
Our journey started at a Lungi town called Modia, where five orphans and victims of the Ebola pandemic were selected to receive school supplies. With an expansion of over 200 beneficiaries benefiting from essentials including bags, uniforms, shoes and stationary, is a testament that our work is making an impact
PROBLEMS: During a poignant journey to the provinces, we encountered overcrowded classrooms, inadequate facilities, appalling sanitation, damaged ceilings, and a scarcity of school materials and play equipment. Witnessing the plight of these children, especially when compared to the schools I’ve worked with in the UK, filled me with despair.
SOLUTIONS: A three classrooms school was constructed to serve the community at Bolima in Waterloo. The building project was funded from our UK salaries and the work was supported by a team of dedicated volunteers and contractors. The children facing hardship receive full scholarship and the rest only pays 9 pounds a year towards charges. We have expanded our humanitarian work and recently built a nursery in a remote village in the northern province of Sierra Leone. This provision now caters for 30 children who may never have had the chance to access pre-school. The good news is, it’s free! To improve the quality we are relying on donors and partners. Can we count on you?
Through our sustainable projects and initiatives, we aim to tackle pressing issues such as poverty, educational access, and economic empowerment. Our overriding aim is to empower our beneficiaries so they themselves can achieve a sustainable future. We strongly believe that it is the local people who are the solution to many of the challenges they face. As a charity committed to making a tangible impact in the lives of those in need, we appeal to compassionate individuals, companies and partners to collaborate and be part of this mission. It will enable us to extend our classrooms, pay teachers salaries, provide educational resources and training for staff. It will be used to construct bore holes, enrich the school playground which lacks equipment and play resources.
