Victoria International Preparatory School
Established in 2020, Victoria International Preparatory School is a non-profit school located in the impoverished community of Bolima, situated in a rural area of Waterloo, Sierra Leone. The school was founded by Mrs. Victoria Kamara, an early years practitioner in the United Kingdom who is convinced that education is a powerful tool to empower children.
The school currently enrolled 60 pupils with 40 percent of them receiving scholarships provided by the Victor and Victoria Foundation. By covering a portion of the tuition fees, these scholarships ensure that children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds can gain access to quality education that would otherwise be inaccessible to them. The involvement of the Victor and Victoria Foundation in paying staff salaries, providing essential resources like bags of rice termly to each staff, and offering microfinance facilities is instrumental in motivating workers and ensuring their commitment to their roles within the school. This multifaceted support not only addresses the immediate needs of the staff but also fosters a sense of security and empowerment.
A child’s early experiences significantly influence their brain development, establishing neural connections that form the foundation for language, reasoning, problem-solving, social skills, behaviour, and emotional health. These characteristics play a crucial role in each child’s success at school and beyond. At Victoria International Preparatory, we provide 30 pre-school children with quality education where play is an integral part of the learning process. The children are growing in confidence and surpassing expectations to achieve their full potential. The Primary school is a work in progress, with 40 registered children in classes 1 and 2. We aim to expand to classes 6 upon the completion of the current building project.
Victor and Victoria Foundation provide learning resources, toys and equipment, pays teachers’ salaries and fund school events including Sports Day and Christmas parties. Your donations will facilitate the effective running of the schools. Please join us.
Launching first Pre-school in a small village
Victoria Nursery and Children’s Centre was built in a remote village in the Port Loko district of Sierra Leone, funded by proceeds from palm oil sales and the founder’s salaries. It serves as a symbol of hope and opportunity, aiming to change children’s lives through education. Officially launched on January 20, 2024, as the first nursery in the area, founder Mrs. Victoria Kamara emphasises that children will receive free quality education in a nurturing environment designed to promote holistic development and inclusivity.
The nursery sets the foundation for a brighter future, offering every child the opportunity to realise their full potential.
Let’s build a strong foundation together
The new nursery is situated in a remote village, posing challenges in terms of accessibility. Our goal is to collaborate with local volunteers and provide them with training to become qualified Early Childhood teaching assistants and teachers. Your donation will support workshops, fund external courses, and equip teachers with the necessary skills to effectively support the children in this community.
“It’s more about inspiring children to dream more, do more and go on to gain more in their respective journeys.“

We are currently expanding our classroom space to accommodate more children. Your donation will greatly impact our ability to further facilitate children’s access to education. Thank you for considering contributing to our cause.
